Abstract
Thermoluminescence (TL) curves from Na + ion implanted Al 2 O 3 induced by 137 Cs gamma rays, from unimplanted Al 2 O 3 irradiated with 137 Cs gamma rays, and from unirradiated Al 2 O 3 implanted with Na + ions are measured. The 452 K TL peak intensity of Na + ion implanted Al 2 O 3 induced by 137 Cs gamma rays is higher than those of only implanted Al 2 O 3 , and only irradiated A12O3. The 137 Cs gamma ray induced TL intensity of ion implanted Al 2 O 3 is sensitive to the number of vacancies generated by ion implantation and the projected ion range. The TL intensity dependence is found to have a very close relation with number of ions, energy, and species.
