Abstract

The thermoelectric power of Sn films has been measured between 3.7 and 8 K. The temperature dependence observed for the film samples deposited on the glass substrate is found to be expressed as S f = a f T + b f T 2 . The mean free path theory of the size effect is applied to interpret the thickness dependence of a f and to determine the energy dependence of the mean free path U and the Fermi surface area V . The second term of S f is discussed in terms of the strain-induced effects.
