Abstract
The present article deals with the thermoelastic interaction in unbounded transversely isotropic medium containing spherical cavity. The problem is considered in the context of with energy dissipation theory of thermoelasticity. Due to the application of constant step in temperature to the stress-free boundary, spherically symmetric waves are produced. The problem is solved in Laplace transformed domain. Short-time solutions for the displacement, temperature and stress fields are obtained, and the expressions of discontinuities at the wave fronts are computed and analyzed. The stresses, displacement and temperature are computed numerically and presented graphically.
