Abstract

AbstractThe Bi2O3–ZnO system is of interest for optimization of the electro‐ceramic synthesis process. There are some limitations and conflictions in the experimental studies of the Bi2O3–ZnO phase diagram in literature. In this work, five Bi2O3–ZnO compositions were prepared and characterized. The Bi38ZnO58 compound was confirmed, and its heat capacities and phase transformation properties were detected. A thermodynamic description of the Bi2O3–ZnO system was carried out based on the present work and previous studies. A set of thermodynamic database and the calculated phase diagrams of the Bi2O3–ZnO system were provided, which help to explain the discrepancies in literature.
