Abstract

The main laws governing the thermodynamics of the polymerization of cycloalkenes in bulk with ring-opening in a metathesis reaction are studied. The results were obtained by precision calorimetric studies of the enthalpy of polymerization, heat capacity, temperature, and enthalpy of physical transitions, of combustion, and of the formation of C n H 2 n−2 cycloalkene ( n = 4–8), and of the corresponding polyalkenomers over the temperature range 0-(320–350) K.
