Abstract
The activity coefficients of KCl in {KCl( m A) + CaCl 2( m B)}(aq) were determined from e.m.f. measurements at 298.15, 308.15, and 318.15 and at constant total ionic strengths of 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 mol · kg −1. The cell consisted of a potassium-ion-selective glass electrode and an (Ag + AgCl) electrode. The Harned coefficients and the Pitzer binary and ternary interaction parameters for the mixture have been calculated. Also, the osmotic coefficients and excess Gibbs free energies have been studied. The solubilities at 298.15 K are also interpreted.
