Abstract
Abstract Densities and speeds of sound have been reported for the binary mixtures containing benzyl amine with methyl acetate, ethyl acetate, propyl acetate, butyl acetate and amyl acetate at different temperatures (T = 303.15–313.15 K) and at atmospheric pressure. The experimental data were used to compute the isentropic compressibility ( κ S ), intermolecular free lengths ( L f ), excess molar volume ( V m E ), excess isentropic compressibility ( κ S E ), excess inter molecular free lengths ( L f E ) and excess speeds of sound ( u E ). The positive and negative results of these parameters give an overall idea of existence of different types of intermolecular interactions present in the mixtures. The excess properties have been fitted to Redlich-Kister equation. Further, theoretical results have also been discussed by using Prigogine–Flory–Patterson (PFP) theory, Intermolecular free length theory (FLT) and collision frequency theory (CFT). FTIR studies has also been added to confirm the experimental findings of the investigated mixtures.
