Abstract

The interaction of cryptand[222] with amino acids in water, which is weak for most amino acids and controlled by the solvent effect in the case of non-polar amino acids, was studied at 298.15 K by the calorimetric method. Cryptand[222] undergoes selective complex formation with some polar and aromatic amino acids. The thermodynamic functions and equilibrium constants of complex formation of the macrocyclic ligand withl-histidine,l-threonine, andl-glutamine were calculated.
