Abstract

The exergy analysis of an ejector–absorption refrigeration system (EARS) for cooling applications using LiBr–H 2 O is presented in this paper. A computer simulation programme is developed for the cycle and used to determine the coefficient of performance and the second law efficiency of the EARS. Also, the exergy destruction and heat rate in each component of the system are estimated under different operating conditions. According to the results obtained, the ejector performs the higher (37.81%) and the pump the lower (0.30%) exergy destruction of the system when the ambient temperature is 30°C, the generator temperature 150°C, the evaporator temperature 5°C and the mass entrainment ratio 0.5.
