Abstract

Thermal stability and dynamic coercivity are key issues in the development of future high density magnetic recording media. The former controls the lifetime of the stored data and the latter determines the write fields at short pulse width. Both effects are related to thermally activated magnetization processes via the ratio of the reversal barrier to the thermal energy, Eg/kT (stability ratio).
