Abstract
Considerable developments have been achieved for recycled polymer composites with enhanced thermal, mechanical and surface properties by implying feasible, economical and environmentally acceptable recycling processes. Furthermore, physical and mechanical modifications are applied to produce structurally reinforced hybrid composites in nano or micro sizes. The composites’ thermal properties are needed to be precisely examined to understand the stability, durability, and flammability characteristics. Thermogravimetric (TG), differential thermal analysis (DTA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) have widely used techniques for the characterization of thermal properties of recycled polymer composites. This chapter gives brief information about the thermal analysis techniques, discusses the special thermal analysis applications of recycled polymer composites and concludes with environmentally friendly composites’ thermal properties. It is mainly supposed that suitable filler types are the main point for enhancing the recycled polymer matrix’s thermal properties.
