Abstract
Although still comparatively new, thermal simulation has rapidly established itself as a standard tool in the development of exhaust systems. Combining thermal simulation (Radtherm) with fluid dynamics simulation (Star-CD) creates a powerful co-simulation method for solving a broad spectrum of problems. Incorporated as virtual component testing, it allows exhaust systems to be laid out under consideration of the thermal requirements, even in the early development phase.
