Abstract

A fundamentally new mechanism of electric-field-stimulated luminescence (the Gudden-Pohl effect) has been established in a metal-dielectric-luminophore-metal (MDLM) structure with Zn0.97Cd0.03S〈Cu,Cl〉 powder luminophore. The luminescence observed during sequential excitation of the MDLM structure by light and electric field appears to be related to thermal ionization facilitated by electro-modulation of the effective electron capture cross section of a trap with an energy level of E c-0.18 eV.
