Abstract

Abstract Thermal expansion was measured in the temperature range from room temperature to 950 °C for various compositions of the ZrO2-Ni cermets containing 8 wt% Y2O3. The data can be described using the first and second coefficients of thermal expansion. The coefficient of linear thermal expansion in this specific temperature range increases linearly with increasing Ni content, and that of ZrO2 can be obtained from the extrapolated values. Finally, the dependence of the average coefficient of linear thermal expansion on composition of these cermets is discussed.
