Abstract

The thermal conductivity of a polyimide film (Kapton ∗ ∗ Registered trademark of DuPont. ) in the thickness direction was calculated by measuring composites made with Kapton and epoxy resin. The epoxy-polyimide film composites were prepared by changing the volume fraction of the films. The thermal conductivities of the composites were measured down to cryogenic temperatures. The thermal conductivity of the film in the thickness direction was estimated on the basis of the rule of mixtures, by taking into consideration the thermal conductivity of the epoxy and the thermal resistance at the interface.
