Abstract

Certain results of laboratory investigations of the thermal, thermohydrolytic, acidic and enzymatic degradation of cellulose with various morphological structures and with various supermolecular structures are presented in the present paper. Special attention is given to question of the ratio between the rates of scission and crosslinking of the chains during the pyrolysis of cellulose as well as to the clarification of the common features and differences between acid-hydrolytic and enzymatic degradation. In conclusion, the results obtained and the possibility of their practical use are discussed [1–16].
