Abstract

Breast cancer is the prominent cancer and placed first among women. Cancer resistance and reoccurrence is the major obstacle makes the available treatment options ineffective or limited. In the present study, we investigated the therapeutic effects, protective, pro-apoptotic as well as autophagic potentials of BH3 mimetic compound (BMC) AT101 in breast cancer (BC) cell line MCF7. Alteration in cellular morphology, nuclear morphology and cell viability studied after treatment with AT101 compound. Autophagy inhibition, pro-apoptosis of compound along with protective effects of AT101 against H2O2 induced oxidative stress in breast cancer cell line MCF7, was observed. The present study demonstrates that BMC could be used in the treatment regimen of cancer to sensitize resistant cancer cells. Moreover, BMC could be used potentially in place or combination with antioxidants.
