Abstract

Relations are derived for the polarization Stokes parameters in the case of collisionalp-state excitation from an initial p-state. The expressions are applied to the reactions H ++Na(3p 0±1)→ H(2p 0±1)+Na+. It is also shown that an angular correlation analysis without Stokes parameter measurements is sufficient for a quantum-mechanically complete description of the process.
