Abstract
An explanation is sought and obtained for the periodic oscillations of the fluids in membrane oscillator experiments. The procedure involves analysis of the equations of motions of a lattice containing fixed charges. The method is similar to those employed in the dynamical theory of lattice motions. It is demonstrated that the reciprocal relations of Born & Huang are not valid for charged membrane motions, when symmetry of electrical charge distributions are absent. Expressions for the phenomenological coefficients and the dielectric constants of the membrane system are also presented.
