Abstract

We calculate the magnetization of p-type Pb1-xEuxS by considering the contributions from local moments of the magnetic impurities and the lattice diamagnetism. The local moment magnetization has been calculated by using a three spin cluster approximation and the interaction between the spins are considered through the Heisenberg’s Hamiltonian within the nearest neighbor interaction approximation. A two band model has been considered to calculate the contribution from the lattice diamagnetism. Comparison between our theoretical results and the experimental results, where available, is quite satisfactory.
