Abstract

The phenomenological model of phase transition in calomel is suggested. This model is constructed by using the singularities theory and the group theory methods. In the framework of the model a theoretical temperature dependence of specific heat is calculated and it is compared with experimental one. From comparison of theoretical and experimental data in anomalous part of specific heat it follows that the phase transition in calomel is the second-order phase transition that is far from the tricritical point.
