Abstract

The size dependent properties of CdSe quantum dots on physical, elastic, thermodynamical and transport properties have been studied theoretically. It is found that at nanometer scale, the surfaces of quantum dots play a crucial role in the changing of its properties. Further, the percentage of atoms at surface, Gibbs free energy and lattice parameter decreases with the increase in size, while rest of the properties like cohesive energy, melting temperature, Debye temperature, heat of mixing, entropy of mixing etc., increases with the increase in particle size confirming the validity of the model. The calculated values follow the same trend as the experimental observations.
