Abstract

State-to-state cross sections have been calculated for collisions of Ar + ( 2 P 3/2 , 2 P 1/2 ) with CO(υ=0) over the relative collision energy range 1-1000 eV. The calculations were done by using the classical path procedure and the semiempirical potential energy surfaces and couplings of Parlant et al. Cross sections were obtained for charge-transfer, vibrational-excitation, and fine-structure transitions. The cross sections are compared with the available experimental data, and in most cases good agreement is obtained
