Abstract
This article discusses the problem of defining the concept of «family life cycle», analyzes the main stages of the cycle, and also pays great attention to the method of social design as a way of modeling social reality. The moments connected with the transformation of traditional values corresponding to the family way of life are determined, the necessity of referring to the historical origins of the institution of the family is justified. The conclusion is made about the importance of the family as a small social group for strengthening the foundations of statehood, because it is in the family that the moral guidelines with which a person enters life are laid.
