Abstract

The power characteristics, spatial structure, and shape of the radiation pulse in a double-passage photoionization CO/sub 2/ amplifier with a PC mirror based on a four-wave interaction in SF/sub 6/ were studied experimentally. Compensation of distortions introduced by the amplifier into the single-mode signal beam was demonstrated for output radiation intensity of the order of the saturation intensity. The experimental results are compared with calculations of the characteristics of the radiation of a double-passage amplifier for the model of a two-level active medium with stationary saturation of the transition.
