Abstract

Microstrip magnetic dipole antennas have been used in many antenna designs, however, its radiation pattern function has not been obtained in previous researches. In this work, the radiation pattern function of microstrip magnetic dipole antenna resonating in the fundamental mode are derived. The theoretical results agree with the simulated results. Further, we obtain the radiation function of linear Array of microstrip Magnetic dipoles with unequal lengths. The lengths are optimized for sidelobe suppression. An array synthesis approach is given to optimize the linear Array. The results show that linear array of microstrip magnetic dipoles has a much lower sidelobe than the array of electric dipole with the same total length.
