Abstract
In this work, we construct a theoretical model to analyze the output characteristics of a pulsed 3.9 μm Nd-Ho:PbF2 laser. The influences of waist radius (pump beam and laser beam), resonator cavity (reflectance), and crystal length are investigated in detail. The calculation results reveal that an optimal laser output at 3.9 μm with an optical-to-optical efficiency of 11.5% and output energy of 5.71 mJ would be achieved using a 25 mm Nd-Ho:PbF2 crystal with a reflectance of 85% when the pump beam waist radius is 150 μm and the laser beam waist radius is 250 μm. Our simulations offer theoretical guidance for the realization of 3.9 μm Ho-Nd:PbF2 laser under the pump of LD.
