Abstract

Jet pump is used for many conventional applications. For some special applications like in experimental device in a nuclear reactor, miniature size jet pump with low area ratio is to be used for achieving comparatively high flow amplification with lower primary flow rate. Since sufficient data are unavailable in the open literature for miniature size jet pump with low area ratio, theoretical investigation with complementary experimental study is carried out. Results obtained using an axi-symmetric CFD models are compared with those of the analytical model. Effect of flow ratio on internal pressure and velocity profile is presented. The computed results are then compared with the experimental results. It was observed that results obtained from the CFD model is in very good agreement with the experimental results for flow ratios up to 2.
