Abstract
Abstract : Theater ballistic missiles are a real and growing threat for US forces. The US is approaching the problem in its traditional manner of developing new high-technology systems to counter the weapons. For at least the next ten years there will likely be a shortage of active defense systems available to the theater commander. First the commander must recognize the potential seriousness of the problem. Ballistic missile defense considerations must be incorporated into operational plans from the outset. Some specific recommendations are given for the commander to be considered as methods to mitigate the shortage of active defense systems.
