Abstract

The elastic and inelastic scatterings of12C from13C have been studied in an investigation of the coherent one-neutron exchange process. Enriched (95.6%)13C, 30 to 40 μg/cm2 in areal density, were bombarded with12C ions from the Wright Nuclear Structure Laboratory MP tandem accelerator. Elastic and inelastic (4.44 MeV in12C, 3.09 and (3.68+3.85) MeV in13C) energy-angle cross-section surfaces have been measured on a 0.5 MeV and 0.7° grid in the energy ranges from 20 to 35.5 MeV and 30 to 35.5 MeV (lab), respectively, and in the angular range from 45° to 125° (c.m.) by means of a dual positionsensitive detector coincidence technique with on-line data acquisition and analysis. Data reduction procedures for use with the resulting two-dimensional spectra are given; the cross-sections are presented and discussed.
