Abstract

The penetration of physicists into hospital work is a comparatively recent development which has taken place to a greater extent in this country than in any other. The earliest regular contact of physics with medicine came through the departments of physics, in some of the medical schools attached to London hospitals. Although primarily engaged in teaching, the staffs of these schools were bound to become interested in the physical aspects of medical problems which came to their attention.
