Abstract
Today many people in France continue to believe that the Algerian war is “a thing of the past” or “a specter” that can affect only those who believe in ghosts. What we would like to show in this paper is that if there is one “thing” that has never stopped haunting the French political and cultural scene, it is the Algerian war.
