Abstract

Governments are granting fixed wireless access licences as a way to make communications services available to the public. The Spanish case, considering its present market, frequency bands and regionalisation, has been analysed to find which parameters mainly affect the economical viability of operators. The results will lead to a feasible number of licenses in a most probable case. Competition, market penetration and the effects of state intervention are also taken into account. This same method is projected to other European countries in an attempt to display those differences among them that should be reduced in the European Community environment.
