Abstract

Temporal contents expressed by verbal forms can be represented, not only in Spanish, through a “vectorial” analysis – as sets of orientations directly or indirectly focused from a deictic center of temporal relations. Moreover, the systematic study of the correspondences between the grammatical uses that many authors have presented as the “main” ones and those that certain forms admit by simultaneously varying their temporal and modal values from the former claims the taking into account a certain degree of complexity in the functioning of verbal mode, as well as the identification of multifunctionality facts understood as the possible common expression of two or more combinations of doubly opposable modal + temporal contents with functional value in the structure of the system.
