Abstract

Low temperature co-condensates of lanthanide metals (Sm and Eu) and some mesogenic cyanophenyls, 4-pentyl-4′-cyanobiphenyl (5CB), 4-octyl-4′cyanobiphenyl (8CB) and 4-pentyl-4′-cyanopyridine (5Py), were obtained using the molecular beam conditions. Solid film samples were studied by IR- and UV–VIS spectroscopy using special vacuumed cryostats in the temperature range 80–340 K. The formation of two lanthanide complexes of different compositions was shown. Complex transformation in the solid cyanophenyl matrix is demonstrated.
