Abstract
Suspected obstruction of the GI tract is a contraindication for the use of capsule endoscopy. Since string capsule endoscopy (SCE) can be retrieved from the patient, the risk of capsule retention is practically eliminated. Aim: To describe the utility and safety of SCE in patients with dysphagia. Methods: Patients with dysphagia undergoing SCE. EGD findings served as the gold standard. Sensitivity, specificity, positive- and negative-predictive values (PPV and NPV, respectively) were calculated.
