Abstract
The Use of Vocabulary Learning Strategies among Form 6 Students in a Malaysian Private School
Highlights
Students use a variety of learning strategies depending on their plan and suitability in order to tackle the lesson or subject that they want to master, this includes learning a language
In view of the findings of this study, it has identified the most common sufficient vocabulary learning strategies preferred by some groups of the students in learning and tackling the topic or lesson of vocabulary
It has shown that most of the students preferred to implement any vocabulary learning strategy that suits their learning style in order to understand better about vocabulary instead of having no strategy to be employed in their learning
Summary
Students use a variety of learning strategies depending on their plan and suitability in order to tackle the lesson or subject that they want to master, this includes learning a language. Apart from this, there are numerous numbers of strategies that can be used by the students in their learning, they need to choose or apply some of the strategies in order to discover which learning strategy would be suitable for their learning style and for the topic or subject that they want to master. This is because, applying learning strategies will help the students to learn systematically but it contributes in helping the student’s cognitive and affective process in their learning. According to Kafadar and Tay (2014), learning strategies can be described as the whole of the performed activities of the learner to give meaning to information in cognitive and affective processes
