Abstract

The use of the range of cyclic geomagnetic variations allows a simple elimination of disturbance fields and normally induced fields for the purpose of a geomagnetic depth sounding. Wiese's relation between the magnetic field components is transformed to range-differences. The application on Sq-registrations of this method on a profile in Northern Germany permits the assumption that both anomalous Sq-and bay-variations are due to the same causes.
