Abstract

This study is a qualitative investigation of the experiences of group leaders facilitating popular opinion leader (POL) groups in middle school to reduce LGBTQQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning) aggression. Using a case study design, the author sought to understand the experiences of group leaders in a 4-week POL group based on the Diffusion of Innovations theory (Rogers, 2003). The author presents findings, implications for future research, practice, and advocacy related to group workers using POL groups in middle school to address the issue of LGBTQQ aggression.
