Abstract

The use of solar energy for pumping irrigation water on small farms in the developing world has excited the imagination of solar technologists, irrigation engineers and development planners in recent years. The technical feasibility of solar powered pumping has been demonstrated in a limited way but a number of adverse factors hinder the wide-spread adoption of this technology.
