Abstract
Papanicolaou staining of 100 smears from vaginal discharge and serous fluid fixed by hairspray showed satisfactory results as compared with that of 100 smears fixed in 95% ethanol and the other 200 smears, fixed in 95% ethanol and ether. The method in the use of hairspray as fixative for cytological preparation is simple, economical and convenient for mailing slides to the cytological laboratory.
