Abstract

The article is devoted to the study by foreign students of the philological profile of the „Fundamentals of the academic style of speech” course which is difficult to imagine without the use of anthroponyms. At the same time, anthroponyms act both as an object of study and as didactic teaching material. The author shows how, when mastering the academic style of speech, one can make the most of the names of philologists. The assimilation of personal names found in texts in the language of the specialty, the performance of language and speech tasks aimed at enhancing the use of anthroponymic units in the field of academic communication, contributes to the faster entry of foreign philology students into the academic language environment, improving their professional competence. The course „Fundamentals of the academic style of speech” for foreign students of philology is not only a means of communication, but also a tool for the formation of professional competence that helps them gain knowledge in the chosen profile and acquire the desired specialty
