Abstract

The purpose of the article is to analyze the content of the educational texts and the peculiarities of their use in foreign language lessons for future economists. Theoretical and empirical research methods were used to solve the tasks in order to identify relevant topics for the development of educational texts for future economists. The issue of educational text use at foreign language lessons at higher education institutions is analyzed on the example of future economists training. Based on the study of pedagogical, psychological and methodological literature, programmes and methodological documentations of higher education institutions and practical experience, we found that the use of the educational text in the process of learning a foreign language by students-economists has been insufficiently studied. It has been noted that the low level of foreign language proficiency of the students of the economic specialization and the need to form their vocabulary for reading professionally oriented texts has raised the question of creating and selecting educational texts, which determines the relevance of the study. In the methodology of a foreign language teaching, texts are divided into educational, adapted and authentic. Educational texts are developed by teachers to solve specific problems in the learning process, namely: acquainting students with lexical items, learning grammar and listening. The lexical material for educational texts should be selected taking into account the criteria of communicative significance, professional orientation, semantic and word-forming value of words. The use of the educational texts allows to create situations of educational and professional communication, complements the knowledge of students obtained during the study of basic disciplines.
