Abstract

The paper analyses the group of letters from the trip of the Crown Prince Nicholas to Japan and the attempted murder of 1891 in the city of Otsu (Shiga prefecture, Japan). The author, based on letters and other written materials, was able to describe the situation of the incident and analyze detailed features of the structure of the available (not all) letters. This shows to whom, in what form and in what style the presented letters and the envelopes they were in. The preliminary conclusions of the consideration of the “gifts of the ‘Memory of Azov’ cruiser”, both historical value and material evidence, are given. As illustrations, 6 scans of envelopes are attached to the article, in which there were letters of sympathy and support after the assassination attempt.
