Abstract

The United States has played a leading role in the campaign for rational management of world whale resources, and is active in the International Whaling Commission. The motives of the United States and the methods by which we try to implement national policy are illustrated by reference to recent scientific studies of the protected gray whale (Eschrichtius robustus).
