Abstract
Summary A chestnut-sized malignant synovioma of the left knee of a 25-year-old-male has been investigated by light and electron microscopy. Histologically, characteristic solid sarcomatous and pseudotubular structures are evident. Electron microscopy revealed an imitation of the microvillous surface structure of normal synoviocytes by the tumor cells which produced numerous “inner surfaces” resulting in pseudotubular clefts and spaces. The differential diagnosis of synoviomas and mesotheliomas is possible by the cytological and histological features of these tumors.
