Abstract
The Federal Protective Service is the U.S. federal agency responsible for protecting federal buildings, properties, and the populations in those locations. Since its integration into the Department of Homeland Security it has transitioned itself from a true law enforcement agency into an inspector-based force that oversees contract guards. With significant security lapses that can be traced back to the contract guards working for the Federal Protective Service, it is essential to understand what faults in the agency are compromising the security of the facilities for which the Federal Protective Service (FPS) is responsible.
