Abstract

The Twenty-Fourth Congress of the CPSU emphasized that the Soviet school has accomplished a great deal in the innovation of the content of the learning process, bringing the school's curriculum into greater conformity with the demands of scientific and technical progress and the general level of scientific knowledge today. Our nation is resolving the grandiose sociopolitical task of achieving ten-year universal education. Even today, approximately 80% of the pupils graduating from eight-year school are receiving a complete secondary education. Nonetheless, progress in social development has made new demands on the individual from the standpoint of his general scientific and technical education and the thorough development of his abilities and his creative activeness.
