Abstract

Hyaline change is, we believe, a powerful latent force for healing in pulmonary tuberculosis; is the initial and necessary stage in the betterment of the lesion and may be termed, therefore, the actual healing process. This process can be induced in the pulmonary tissues by the employment and action of G.A.C.C. ‘B’ in the manner described. Moreover, if the tissue in and around the lesion be fixed or hyalinized, the tubercle bacilli and their endotoxin are also involved to their detriment and consequently bacterial spread is arrested. Again the particular area of diseased lung can be more readily and specifically isolated for treatment by this than by any other method. An important feature, both from the personal and administrative point of view, is the comparatively short time required in sanatoria by this therapy. From a scientific, administrative, economic or personal point of view, this treatment is a definite advance on all other therapy in pulmonary tuberculosis. We submit, therefore, that induced hyaline fixation of tuberculous infected lung tissue is the most rational procedure and that we have here a real contribution to the successful treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis.
