Abstract
The scandal surrounding the images of abuse and torture at Abu Ghraib prison is explored by examining the conditions as to their possibility. A Freudian-Lacanian psychoanalytic approach is utilized to explore the psyche of such inhumanity. The essay ends on a sobering note as to the future of the Iraqi conflict.
